When in doubt, it’s always ideal to go straight to an expert! And lucky for me, I happen to have a sweet friend who is a rockstar at Branding! Ashlee and I met when we were both speaking at Inspired Retreat, and what do you think her topic was? You guessed it, branding! Building a strong brand, knowing what makes a strong brand and implementing that magical combo can be downright daunting! That’s why I asked my amazing friend Ashlee Proffitt to let me interview her and get answers to your most frequent questions about braining. There was so much great stuff to learn that I decided to break this down into 2 parts… In case you missed it, make sure you WATCH PART 1 HERE of this amazing interview with Branding Expert and Designer Ashlee Proffitt. And don’t forget to scroll down for our amazing FREE GIFT that Ashlee is giving all of you! You are going to L-O-V-E these worksheets that Ashlee has so generously gifted to our readers! I’ve already printed them and started working with them myself, and they are SO HELPFUL!
Are you wondering where my new blonde hair went? This was actually filmed before I went for my new look, so now it seems weird to share this video interview but the content (and the free download we have for you) is just way to good not to share!
Branding can be confusing. Trying to do it on your own can be daunting. And how do you know if your brand is sending the right message? And what is the right message anyway? I asked Branding Expert and Designer, Ashlee Proffitt to let me interview her and get some clear answers on how to build a strong, swoon worthy brand.
In this video you’ll learn:
– What do you do when your style and your target clients style don’t match?
– What characteristics make your must-have list for a strong brand?
– Is it okay to change my brand and how long should we wait in-between?
– Should we consider profitability and revenue potential directly attributed to branding?
Ashlee shared so much great info that I’ve decided to break it up into two parts! You can find Part 2 and Ashlee’s FREE GIFT: Brand Development Worksheets HERE.

I’ll be the first to admit it…I am not naturally tidy! But I so love having a clean house. This is sort of the equivalent of fire and ice. The fire kicks in and the house get cleans, but inevitably the ice returns, and there’s a puddle on the floor that needs mopping. That’s why I am so excited to have Becky of Clean Mama as today’s guest! I don’t know how it happens…it can be spotless when I go to bed, and by the time I get the kids off to school, it looks like tornado barreled through. It’s funny how some seem to be born with (or grew into) the clean gene (you know the type) and some of us…well, we just didn’t.
But what about those of us who have the desire but not the inclination. We want clean and tidy but seem to create chaos and mess. Now because I love the appearance of clean, I can make it look really clean and good. If company is coming, it’s going to look perfect…just don’t step into the laundry room (which you probably won’t cause you’re not going to be able to get the door open), and don’t – under any circumstance – open the coat closet.
But here’s, the thing… somehow I feel like I’m a fraud with my secret compartments of madness. I want to walk into every room and not get discouraged when I flip on the light. That’s why I am so excited to have Becky of Clean Mama as my BossBabe Guest today.
Clean Mama herself is sharing simple and easy to implement tips on how to keep your house ready for surprise guests…and coming into Christmas week, we could all use that!
Wasn’t that a fantastic interview? I am so grateful for our many different talents! What’s easy for one (cleaning for Becky) can be a huge pain point for others (oh. hello, that’s totally me!), and yet we can all come together… Learn from each other and grow!
As promised, Becky has shared one of her amazing worksheets with us – you can get the free printable below! The Weekly Cleaning Worksheet comes from her Everyday Cleaning Planner that you can purchase here.
Spoiler Alert!!! I am so proud of and inspired by my friend, Becky, who is about to debut her own Clean Mama cleaning line! I can’t wait to check it out! Make sure you’re on her list and following, so you can see all her new items. And seriously…for all my Girl Boss Babes, she is one entrepreneur you want to make sure you are watching!
What was it that drew me into photography in the first place? If I try really hard to find the truth, I think ultimately it was the dream of making their life…my own. Images have the power to bring us to a different place, a different world even, if for a moment we get to be part of it.
When I first fell in love with photography that was my true reason why. I looked inside other peoples images and I imagined I was there. There in that moment, it was my snapshot of life that was happening. I wanted to create those snapshots and ultimately in the bigger picture, I wanted to use photography to make them my reality.
Photography has the power to bring the viewer into someone else’s moment.
But what if we considered that thought from a business perspective? ‘… the power we bring to the viewer…’
Where do you want to bring your viewer?
I want to bring them into my world. I want them to see themselves behind my camera, I want them to imagine their family…smiling, laughing, being and seeing it unfold on my blog. I want to convey the beauty of what I can create for them. Why they want canvases and image boxes – no – Why they need them. That is where I want to bring my viewer.
The first step is of course through my portfolio, my blog, my imagery but it should not be the last. To make the experience more poignant it must not and can not stop there. And that is where beautiful styled photography can fill the gap.

I am so excited to share with you, my interview with you Amanda Holloway! We are talking all about how she built a high-end Senior brand and business and she’s giving us a tour of her amazing studio! You do NOT want to miss this one!
But first, if you’ll indulge me, I’ll tell you the story of how we met. We were at WPPI – actually, Kelli France and I were walking through the trade show floor and saw Amanda speaking for ProDPI. We’d never met, but through mutual friends found out we both wanted to be introduced to one another (hmm, this is sounding weirdly like an engagement story!). Kelli and I stopped to listen to Amanda speak and all of a sudden she looks up, spots us and stops her whole presentation and says, “Hi Leah! Hi Kelli!” It was everything I could do not to shout, ‘Amanda Holloway just said hi to me!” Well, after she finished her presentation the three of us went to lunch to get properly acquainted. That lunch turned into a big ol’ cry fest but we’ll tell you about that in the video!
In this episode, guest Amanda Holloway shares on:
- How she built her luxe senior photography brand.
- How she’s identified and attracted her dream senior clients.
- Styling clients to get that look (Plus the FREE What to Wear guide is below!!!)
- Amanda gives us a tour of her AMAZING STUDIO!!
It’s going to be an awesome Video Friday!
I use to think that I had to do everything myself and it literally took an ambulance to convince me to change.
It was inside that ambulance that I realized I had to stop trying to do it all myself. I had to stop pretending that no one else could do these tasks and so, no one could help me. And when I took a long hard look at my business, I had to admit that editing was going to be my downfall if I didn’t fix things.
Do you know what that feels like? Some of you may not, but I worry that others know exactly what I’m talking about. The very words send shudders through your spine, because this is your reality.
What is your answer to the following questions?
- What takes you more time than possibly anything else in your photography business?
- What get’s you to stay up till all kinds of crazy hours of the night?
- What has gotten you to tell your kids (with shame and guilt), ‘just watch another show’?
- What has gotten you to tell your husband, ‘you don’t understand how much I have to do’?
If you’re admitting that it’s editing like I did…THERE IS HOPE!
Today I want to show you how I let go of my own excuses, what it took to train and hire a retouch artist and why I’ll never go back!
My hope is that I can inspire you to let go of your editing (or whatever areas are holding you hostage) so that you can take back control of your life.
I set out to create a business training program that would transform lives. I knew it was possible because the same strategies that I teach in The Thriving Photographer™, first transformed my own life.
Today, Arizona based Family Photographer Christine Mosby is sharing her story!
This is what she said when she sent me this amazing video…”I thank my lucky stars I found you and you were willing to help me! You have impacted my life in ways you’ll never understand! Your willingness to help not only me but so many others, speaks volumes to your selflessness and caring for others!!! Thank you again!! ” – Christine
